"Topsey Turvey" We come through with the wagon train and I fell off the wagon. Pa never noticed and he just kep on a goin. I been here ever since. Y'know, some folks think he mighta done it a purpose. The folks roun here call me Topsey Turvey cuz a me fallin down a lot fer nuthin. Maw Russell sorta adopted me as one of her younguns and I'm mighty glad a that. Some folks think I ain't quite right in the head, cuz I fell off the wagon like I did, but I think I do all right. I'm the washer woman here in town but sometimes I don't get paid for my hard work. These crazy women just ain't got no money. Sometimes, on hot summer nights, Maw lets me sleep in the barn.
