I am the Russell sisters mother. Everyone just calls me
Maw Russell. I came to Cyanide Springs with my husband and
daughters to ranch. It was a pretty little town, good
place to raise youngins. At least until someone
struck gold and silver, then there came the miners and the saloon girls.
Paw was more interested in mining and "saloon gals"
than ranching, so I ran the no-good off. I did my best to
raise these girls right and run the ranch. The ranch
didn't do good and not much better with the youngins. One is so "mean" I can't get her married off.
Then the others including "my favorite" is so spoiled that no-one will have them either.
So I just go on the best I can.
Because the the mines went bad, all the men folk
left town. Come see us and bring your young
